Training

Only with a full knowledge and understanding of Damp is it possible to provide a lasting solution to damp problems.
Dampproofing is not an easy field in which to work and it is all too easy for individuals to treat the symptoms and not the root cause.

Safeguard’s staff have received thorough training from the Research and Development team of Safeguard Europe as well as many other suppliers. Their knowledge is widely acknowledged as some of the best available within the South African Dampproofing industry and has lead to their involvement with the Construction Education and Training authority to promote better skills and knowledge within the industry.

Safeguard has for years provided training to contractors, property managers and home owners to enable them to fully understand the impact of damp on buildings and to properly analyse and diagnose the root causes of damp and so enable them to provide correct and long-lasting solutions to the problems.

Safeguard’s signature training course typically lasts about 4 hours and covers the following subjects:
  • What is Damp?
  • The effects of Salts on substrates
  • Rising Damp
  • Lateral Damp
  • Penetrating Damp
  • Condensation
  • Descending Damp
  • The use of Moisture Meters and Infra Red Cameras.
The course is open to everyone and is usually run in Johannesburg once a month on a Thursday starting at 08h30.  A comprehensive set of documents is provided electronically on completion of the training.
